The new Hall 19/20 – infinite flexibility
02 May 2016
For years, the HANNOVER MESSE has been the world’s most important industrial fair. Its development is characterised by continuous growth and the constant expansion of the services provided to its exhibitors and visitors.
This development also entails an ever-growing requirement for more space, which has been one of the reasons for building Hall 19/20. The hall, being the size of three football fields, offers unique flexibility – an optimal combination of exhibition hall, conference rooms and catering area.
This flexibility has also been made possible through the movable partition walls by Parthos Deutschland GmbH. At an early planning stage, Deutsche Messe AG and the renowned architect’s office Gerkan, Marg und Partner (GMP) used the company’s extensive and long-standing experience in order to realise this interesting project.
Two in one: a movable partition wall as high as the ceiling transforms the new building into two completely independent exhibition halls. The wall by Parthos, measuring 70 m in length and 12 m in height, is easily set up and removed despite its dimensions.

The highlight of Hall 19/20 is its conference area: one hall, one meeting room and five flexible conference rooms, including operator’s and interpreter’s desks, offer space for eight to 800 persons. Four additional movable walls by Parthos offer the flexibility required with regard to the layout of these rooms. In addition, they meet the high requirements regarding sound insulation and fire safety that are imposed on buildings of this type and use.
The wall in the “New York” room, for instance, is 23 m long and 9 m high. With a sound reduction index Rw of 57 dB, it additionally features acoustically effective surfaces. The sound absorption coefficient thus optimises the room’s acoustic properties, thereby providing excellent conditions for the room’s users.
Parthos Germany GmbH is very grateful for the opportunity of successfully working together with such renowned partners as Deutsche Messe AG and the architects Gerkan, Marg und Partner and for participating in the realisation of the new building of Hall 19/20.
